You already know you need a manual hot air gun for patches, overlaps and rod welds. 4. HT1600 or HT1600D: What the LCD Display Buys You
The HT1600 and HT3400 use a stepless dial — simple and reliable, and enough for most field work. The HT1600D replaces it with a digital LCD readout and Weldy’s configurable parameter settings, and the real benefit is parameter visibility: the operator can read the displayed settings at a glance, note them down, and recall the same configuration for the next seam, the next shift or the next identical job. On routine tarpaulin work that hardly matters; on an inspected project where a supervisor asks “what did you weld that seam at?”, the readout turns a guess into a documented answer. Choose the D when settings must be reproduced and manually documented; choose a dial model when simplicity and price matter more.
5. When the 3,400 W HT3400 (and Its Shrink Kit) Is the Right Call
The HT3400 is Weldy’s high-output gun in the Energy family: 3,400 W, higher airflow (~320 l/min) and static pressure (~3,000 Pa), and a 50 mm nozzle connection. It suits large-surface heating and welding — wide membrane seams, fast pre-heating and thick-sheet bending — and, with the Shrink kit’s reflector and 50 mm slot nozzles, cable and film shrinking in packaging and automotive work. Its 50 mm nozzle and 1.28 kg weight make it less suited to fine corner work than the 31.5 mm HT1600 models; many crews keep both.
